When I say that someone is not nice, it could mean one of two things:

1. You are not Nice. That is, you're not made of sugar and spice and ponies prancing on fluffy clouds- politically correct, unwilling to say anything that isn't encouraging and uplifting. That's okay, few people are, and they're usually not all that interesting.

2. You are not a nice person. That is, you don't even meet the (rather low) threshold of an ordinary, decent human being. Basically, I can't trust or respect you. And that's bad, but maybe not to you because you probably don't want my trust or respect in the first place. Or perhaps you do want respect, but the sort of respect you accord to people you envy, not the sort of respect that innate morality commands. That's sad.

Most people fall between the two levels of Niceness described here. What about you!
