This is the story of my grandmother's life in a nutshell.

She was born the second eldest daughter in a family of, oh I don't know, ten? Her brothers were sent to school while her elder sister was expected to stay home, take care of the kids (while her mom kept popping out new ones) and basically be a mother to everyone in the family, since their own mother was perpetually in confinement. The elder brothers were sent to school, and the younger girls were expected to follow suit as well.

Then one day, the elder sis thinks oh to hell with this life, I'm sick of being everyone's mother, I'm going to school. So she throws in the proverbial towel and barges her way into educated life. So now my grandmother thinks gosh, this is terrible, my siblings need someone to take care of them. So she -a terribly bright student, I may add- gives up school to stay home and take care of the brats and be a mother to them as well as to earn whatever money she can to support them and send them off to school, and the only education she gets henceforth are the snippets she picks up while listening from outside the schoolroom window in her precious free time.

This is why my grandmother is illiterate while every other one of her siblings is fairly well-educated. They owe their educations to her sacrifice.

Then my grandmother had a family of her own, and due to a twist of circumstance, she brought up her five children more or less single-handedly. Despite her being illiterate, they all turned out fairly -if not very- successful, accountants engineers businesspeople and the like. Nearly all are married and have wonderful kids (heh heh), kids with real personalities and common sense and a deep love and sense of kinship.

That is my grandmother's success.

Here's to my brilliant nai nai! And one of the fruits of her success, heh heh.

A few weeks ago, I went to get my hair cut in Orchard Road and managed to run out for about five minutes to get a few shots of Dali's work!! I only got Space Woman and the melting clock though ):

No prizes for guessing which this is! It doesn't look much like a melting clock, does it?

I just thought of something. Don't Vernetta Lopez, Mark Richmond and Beatrice Chia remind you of Brangelina and Jennifer Aniston? Jennifer=Lopez (haha geddit geddit)= kooky lovable girl-next-door, Beatrice Chia=Angelina Jolie=tall sexed-up large-boned third party and Mark Richmond=Brad Pitt=male. My oh my.

Last night was my grandfather's birthday party, and we took lots of pictures!

My mother and I... is it just me, or do I look like Isabelle here?

My grandfather looks a bit uncharastically happy. I think he was drunk.

Yup he was.

My grandmother... I Told her I was taking a picture of us, but well.

This is Hannah. Guess how old this girl is. Just make a guess. Answer at the bottom of the page.

My daddy and his siblings decided to be exclusive and kick their [in this case only] wives and kids out of the picture. Wives as in, my dad's wife and my uncle's wife.. yeah you get it.

Sharon was pretending to be Angelina Jolie, hence the screwy lips, Glenn was pretending to be Brad Pitt hence the cheekopek stare, and I was poor spurned Aniston, hence the... yeah.

Disclaimer: no, I was not drunk.

[Nearly] all the cousins. Sorry guys, but the hot chick in white is taken. And this is your last chance to guess how old Hannah is!

The cousins always have so much fun during reunions :D

Oh, and she's twenty-two. Hahaha.
